This striking ceramic table lamp was designed by Anna-Lisa Thomson and produced by the Swedish company Upsala Ekeby in the 1940s. The lamp’s underside is marked with the model number 3226 and bears the 'Ekeby' signature.
The ceramic base is beautifully finished with a glaze in various hues of sand, beige, and yellow. The curved, diagonal swirl lines throughout the base create a visually appealing texture and rich depth. The empire shaped shade has been renewed in a smooth, ivory fabric, complementing the base's warm tones.
The lamp is in overall good condition. There are minor chips on the rim of the foot, which are not particularly noticeable or distracting when the lamp is positioned normally. Renewed shade. Rewired and currently with a 220V European plug and standard E26/E27 bulb fitting.
Anna-Lisa Thomson (1905-1952) is one of the well-known representatives of the illustrious Swedish ceramic design of the 20th century. She was one of the leading designers for the Upsala-Ekeby factory in the 1930s-1940s. Anna-Lisa is represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design. Upsala Ekeby was, next to Gustavsberg and Rörstrand, one of the three major porcelain factories in Sweden.
