Description
This rare, large table lamp was designed by Einar Johansen and produced by Søholm Stentøj in Denmark in the 1960s. Søholm Stentøj was based on the Danish island of Bornholm, long known for its ceramic tradition. The lamp is marked with the manufacturers details and the model number ‘3071’ on the underside of the base.
The lamp is executed in glazed stoneware with a bottle-shaped body rising to a slender neck and brass-colored fitting, its generous scale giving the lamp a commanding presence. The body is decorated with a hand-carved triangular relief pattern in two bands, separated by a smooth section left in the glaze. The pattern creates an interesting texture and gives the piece a sense of depth. The glaze runs in warm tones of brown, cream, and sandy beige with a drip effect typical of Søholm’s stoneware production. The lamp is fitted with a renewed shade in an off-white linen textured fabric.
The lamp is in very good condition with renewed 220V wiring, a new E26/E27 bulb fitting and a new custom shade.
