Description
An architectural play of light and geometry, this “Poliedra” lamp designed by architect Felice Ragazzo for Harvey Guzzini embodies the Space Age spirit of late 1960s Italian design. Both functional and sculptural, it brings an experimental architectural logic into the realm of domestic lighting.
Design
Developed as part of Ragazzo’s Progetto Poliedra, the structure is formed from interlocking polyhedral modules that can be arranged in multiple configurations. Each section, crafted from chromed brass wire, connects through small clips, allowing the piece to be extended, reshaped, or suspended. Within the open geometric framework, three adjustable aluminum light units are fitted with translucent acrylic diffusers and silvered bulbs. These emit a soft, directional glow, accentuating the skeletal rhythm of the frame. The lights are linked by coiled cords to a polished aluminium sphere, visually anchoring the composition while housing the electrical junctions.
Designed as a system rather than a single object, Ragazzo’s concept allowed the user to build freestanding floor lamps, hanging chandeliers, or sculptural table versions; each variant retaining the same modular clarity.
Condition
This lamp is in very good condition, with minimal traces of oxidation on the chromed frame and light signs of age to the acrylic diffusers. Wiring and fittings are fully functional. -
