French 19th Century Gilt Bronze and Ceramic Chandelier
-
Description
Dimensions: 43” H x 14” W x 14” D
French 19th century slender chandelier made of cast, gilt bronze and accented with a spike at the bottom in cobalt ceramic–vitrified by fire to a depth of color and sheen that could easily be mistaken for glass. The elongated fixture incorporates a crown with plumes, from which the twisting cables descend–stationed with an additional knot on each–before hooking onto the frame of three candle arms, rising on scrolling tendrils of acanthus referencing the Neoclassical taste. From there the chandelier column tapers into additional foliate designs around the capital of the blue ceramic post, before terminating as an artichoke finial. Note the fixture has been professionally cleaned and rewired to US electrical standards using UL-listed parts and is ready to be installed in your interior. Please view the detailed images to see every gorgeous feature of this unique chandelier.
