Description
The 'Lipizza' chandelier by J.T. Kalmar is a notable example of Austrian modernist lighting, characterized by its dual-circuit design that allows for flexible illumination. The fixture is defined by a series of vertical, textured glass plates with a frosted "ice glass" or "foam glass" effect that elegantly diffuses light. These plates surround a tiered brass frame, creating a harmonious interplay between the warm metallic tones and the translucent glass.
Julius Theodor (J.T.) Kalmar (1884–1968) was a central figure in Viennese design, having studied under Josef Hoffmann before leading the Kalmar company toward a refined, functionalist aesthetic that collaborated closely with the Austrian Werkbund. -
