Description
Donald Deskey Halo Desk Lamp for Lightolier. Rare Lightolier Desk Lamp Halo model design of Donald Deskey, early Mid Century Modern 1935-55. Brass cast base and neck. Halo circular shade original dark green paint. A stunning desk lamp with excellent illumination. Soft upward glow with brilliant downward light having a good circular spread of light about 22 inch diameter. This is a significant piece very well made of brass and bronze. This light was produced with a 12 inch fluorescent circular bulb running off a ballast. The Ballast acted also as the weight for the lamp, providing serval pounds in weight to make the lamp extremely stable. Because the Ballast for this lamp is no longer produced this lamp has been UL wired bypassing and maintaining the original ballast to allow for modern efficient and LED Bulbs. Keeping the original Ballast installed maintains the lamps proper weight and integrity. This lamp includes a new LED Halo bulb. The lamp is in very good original condition maintaining its patina to the brass which was originally lacquered with bronzing. If so desired the brass could be polished to a brand new finish which would remove the patina. We do not recommend this as it could have a negative affect on the value. The shade is in very good condition maintaining the original dark green paint, no dents few scuffs, original plug and socket. The socket has chips to the plastic casing pictured having no effect on function or integrity. In perfect working condition. Please see pictures.
