Description
This pair of Modernist mercury glass table lamps, created by Lorin Marsh in the 20th century, exemplifies the seamless blend of elegance and functionality that defines modern design. At their core, these lamps are a study in contrasts—where the cool, reflective sheen of mercury glass meets the warm, tactile richness of leather.
The frosted glass diffuser casts a soft and ambient glow. The subtle sheen of the glass catches hints of its surroundings, lending a dynamic, ever-shifting quality to the piece. Sitting beneath the spherical mercury glass bodies luminous is the leather-wrapped base, rectilinear in form and exquisitely precise in its craftsmanship. The leather adds a grounded sense of texture, offering an earthy counterpoint to the ethereal nature of the glass above.
Every detail of the lamps is measured and deliberate, reflecting Lorin Marsh's ability to balance modernist minimalism with luxurious materials. These lamps are not merely functional—they are sculptural, each piece standing as an artistic centerpiece, whether placed on a desk, console, or bedside table. Their understated sophistication quietly demands attention, making them ideal for interiors where refined taste is a priority.
Beautiful yet restrained, these lamps encapsulate the timeless elegance that comes with blending material innovation, artisanal craftsmanship, and thoughtful modern design. They are the kind of pieces that elevate a space—not just lighting it, but also framing its character. Newly rewired to American Standards, these lamps accommodate two edison base bulbs achieving up to 200 watts of light. Fitted with custom Gallery Shades, these lamps are in Excellent Vintage Condition.
