Description
This sculptural Modernist Round 3-Tier Hand-Blown Murano Glass Chandelier w/ Oval Reeded Shades originated in Italy, 21st Century. The fixture arranges three concentric tiers into a cascading circular form composed of individually crafted glass panels that evoke overlapping scales. A variety of surface treatments, including fine vertical reeding, hammered undulations, crosshatch and satin-frosted finishes, animate each panel and create layered depth and a soft play of transmitted light. When viewed from below the silhouette reads as a rounded feather-like drum and from the side it presents a gently domed cascade. The interplay of varied textures rewards close inspection and gives the chandelier a delicate luminous quality that shifts with the angle of light. A central metal frame finished in a warm brass tone supports the tiers and complements the soft pink clear and frosted glass hues. Small metal rings attach the panels to the inner baffle and permit subtle movement that produces a shimmering effect as illumination passes through the textured glass. The composition balances rhythm and restraint and serves as a refined focal point that references organic forms without literal representation. Excellent Condition, this piece has been rewired to US standards.
