Description
This very rare table lamp was designed by Giovanni Ottaviani and produced by his company Ottaviani in Italy in the 1960s. The lamp is signed with the manufacturer's name on the side of the base.
The base is executed in metal with a warm bronze-toned finish, featuring an intricately worked surface with a distinctive beaded texture. The studded relief work forms flowing, sculptural panels that wrap around the body, creating a sense of movement and depth. The piece has a highly decorative presence combined with a rich tactile quality. The lamp rests on a circular solid wood foot, adding a subtle contrast in material.
The tapered shade is a custom design made in cream/off-white Métaphores fabric. The finely textured fabric provides a refined, neutral counterpoint while offering soft and even light diffusion.
The lamp is in good condition with minor wear consistent with age and use. Updated 220V wiring and a completely new shade.
