Pair of Mid-Century Brass Two-Arm Sconces w/ Sculptural Volute Motif

This sculptural Pair of Mid-Century Brass Two-Arm Sconces w/ Sculptural Volute Motif originated in Spain, 20th Century. Each sconce presents a tall, pierced backplate cut into a stylized volute leaf motif that rises to a fleur-like terminal. Two sinuous rounded arms sweep outward from a low circular plinth and terminate in concave bobeches that support upward-facing candelabra fittings. The overall silhouette is vertical and sculptural, a deliberate interplay of linear rise and softly curving arms that creates a commanding presence on the wall. Constructed in warm gilt brass, the backplates are secured with decorative rivet heads and the arms are formed from continuous drawn tubing that flows into turned collars and shallow dishes at the sockets. Decorative rivet heads and turned collars provide an artisanal refinement that enhances the ornamental motif and balances the luminous planes of the brass surface. Neutral cylinder custom fabric shades are shown in the photographs and complement the brass tone while softening the light. Each sconce is fitted for candelabra-base bulbs offering 120watts of light each and expresses an elegant mid-century Spanish sensibility. Excellent vintage Condition, these pieces have been rewired to US standards.
