Pair of Mid-Century Hand-Blown Murano 3-Arm Classical Wall Sconces

This ornate Pair of Mid-Century Hand-Blown Murano 3-Arm Classical Wall Sconces originated in Italy, Circa 1950. Each sconce presents a central blown-glass body from which three elegantly curved clear glass arms extend to support scalloped glass bobeches. Dozens of individually formed applied pastel glass flowers, rosettes and button beads are affixed to the arms and body, and smaller scrolling branches carry additional floral accents and terminal beaded drops. The color palette mixes soft blues, greens, pinks and yellows set against transparent ribbed and optically twisted clear glass, and the resulting surfaces amplify reflected light to lively, celebratory effect. Construction is wholly hand-blown glass and involves numerous separate components assembled to create a layered, three-dimensional composition that reads as both classical and festive. Metal mounting hardware for the wall backplate and lamp-holders is discreetly incorporated behind the glass forms so the airy sculptural silhouette is preserved. They present a refined presence that suits both period interiors and carefully curated contemporary settings, and the layered glass ornamentation reads as both decorative and architectural.
