Description
Designed and manufactured by Heritage Metalworks, LTD in Virginia, this English Box wall sconce is an elegant interpretation of traditional English lantern lighting, blending classical architectural detailing with refined contemporary craftsmanship. Featuring a hand-finished blackened steel box frame accented by a sculptural gilded shell crest and matching gilt-edged lower apron, the fixture evokes the timeless character of English country house and Georgian interiors while remaining equally at home in modern, transitional, and coastal settings.
The lantern is constructed with clear glass panels on all sides and a beautifully aged antiqued mirrored back panel, which amplifies the warm glow of the two candelabra lights while adding depth and visual richness. Decorative scalloped interior steel details soften the geometry of the lantern, and the full-height hinged glass door provides easy access for re-lamping.
Originally produced in 2019, this example was acquired from the Remains Lighting showroom in Los Angeles, where it served as a floor sample. It remains in very good vintage condition with only light signs of showroom wear consistent with age and display use.
Suitable for both damp and dry locations, this versatile wall lantern is equally appropriate for entryways, hallways, powder rooms, covered patios, loggias, stair halls, libraries, or flanking a fireplace or doorway.
A sophisticated statement piece that combines handcrafted metalwork, antiqued mirror, and classical shell ornamentation with exceptional American craftsmanship.
