Description
This elegant pair of table lamps was crafted in Denmark during the 1940s. While the design has previously been attributed to Svend Aage Holm Sørensen, it also bears a strong resemblance to the work of Vilhelm Lauritzen.
The lamps are made entirely of brass, which has developed a natural and beautiful patina over time. Each lamp features a circular brass base with a built-in white push switch, a tubular brass lower stem, and a gooseneck-style brass arm. This flexible arm allows the shade to be easily adjusted to different positions and angles. Additionally, the angle or tilt of the shade itself can be separately adjusted. The brass shades are adorned with star-shaped perforations and a scalloped rim, adding a touch of elegance and character. This striking design exemplifies the craftsmanship and originality of the early Danish Modern lighting era.
The lamps remain in good vintage and fully original condition. The brass shows a natural patina, with minor scratches and dents consistent with previous use. The interiors of the shades exhibit some paint loss, though this is not visible when the lamps are in normal use. They are currently fitted with 220V European wiring and plugs. -
