Description
This rare pair of table lamps was designed by Kent Eriksson in collaboration with Carl-Harry Stålhane and produced by Designhuset in Sweden in the 1970s. Each base is marked “KE” and “Designhuset Sweden.” Founded in 1973 by Stålhane after leaving Rörstrand, Designhuset was known for its small-scale, artist-driven ceramic production near Lidköping.
The lamps feature rounded, egg-shaped ceramic bases with hand-applied bands in earthy tones of russet, sand, and charcoal. The subtly irregular glaze creates gently diagonal, mostly horizontal lines, giving each base a unique artisanal character. A glossy finish enhances their tonal depth, while slim brass fittings provide a warm metallic accent. Newly crafted cylindrical shades in smooth ivory fabric offer a refined, neutral contrast.
The lamps are in very good condition, with updated European 220V wiring and new custom shades. As each base is handmade, gentle variations in the glaze pattern and slight differences in the size of the ovoid forms are inherent to their craftsmanship and add to their individual charm. These nuances are subtle and only become apparent if the lamps are placed extremely close together.
