-
Description
Dimensions: 65 1/2″ H x 27 3/8″ W x 2″ D
An exceptional carved and painted trumeau mirror, circa 1800, France. The antique mirror features a large carved and gilt wreath that is situated in the larger shaped panel above the glass. It consists of carved and blossoming roses on one side, with a laurel branch on the other, meeting in the middle at a carved knotted ribbon with tassels. Below this wonderful work of art is the trumeau’s mirror. The mirror is nearly square, measuring 17”H x 18-½”W, and is framed by carved and gilt trim, worked into twisted ribbon and beaded pearl motifs. The mirror’s mercury glass is original to the antique, and has aged marvelously, with some foxing and sparkles present. A small, carved rectangular panel resides beneath the mirror. -
