Rare Rectangular Wall Mirror Model 1929 by Max Ingrand

$ 14,800
  • Description
    Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte rare rectangular wall mirror, Model 1929, in green glass and black enameled steel, Milan, Italy, 1960s.

    This elegant and highly architectural mirror is composed of a large rectangular mirrored plate framed by substantial strips of thick green-colored glass, set within a slender black enameled steel frame. The layered construction creates a distinctive stepped effect along the perimeter, emphasizing the depth and thickness of the glass while maintaining the remarkably restrained geometry of the design.

    The rich green coloration of the glass becomes particularly pronounced along its exposed edges, where the thickness of the material creates greater saturation and contrast against the dark metal frame. The combination of colored glass, mirror and blackened metal is characteristic of Max Ingrand’s sophisticated approach to glass at Fontana Arte, in which the material itself becomes an integral part of the composition.

    The reverse retains its original Fontanit / Luigi Fontana & C. S.p.A. label.

    Model 1929 is a refined example of Max Ingrand’s modernist work for Fontana Arte and of the company’s important contribution to Italian postwar design through its innovative use of glass and architectural form.
