Description
Carl-Johan Boman was a key figure in Finnish furniture design during the early 20th century. As the head of Oy Boman Ab, he played a pivotal role in shaping Finnish modernism with high-quality craftsmanship and innovative design.
Design
This rare pair of lounge chairs showcases Boman’s refined approach to seating. The curved backrest and angled silhouette create a balanced yet striking profile. Covered in luxurious sheepskin, the upholstery enhances the organic nature of the design while providing exceptional comfort. The dense texture of the sheepskin adds warmth and depth, complementing the sculptural form. Subtle button tufting introduces a discreet decorative touch, reinforcing the thoughtful construction. The robust frame ensures longevity, while the gently rounded edges invite relaxation. The tapered wooden legs, slightly splayed, give the chairs a grounded yet airy presence, contributing to both stability and aesthetic harmony. Their proportionate design makes them adaptable to various interior styles, from minimalist modern to richly textured vintage spaces.
These chairs are more than just functional objects. They embody a period of Finnish design where craftsmanship and material choice defined an era. With their inviting form and durable construction, they offer a distinctive and cozy seating experience. Whether placed in a contemporary or vintage setting, they retain their timeless appeal.
Condition
The condition of the chairs is very good with only minor signs of wear on the legs. -
