Description
Gaetano Pesce was an influential and inimitable Italian designer and architect, celebrated for his eclectic and innovative approach to design. Known for challenging traditional aesthetics, Pesce’s works often blur the lines between art and functionality. His series "Nobody's Perfect" exemplifies this philosophy, offering unique pieces that embrace imperfections and celebrate individuality.
Design
This "Nobody's Perfect" side chair, designed by Pesce in 2010 and produced by Zerodisegno, is a striking representation of his design ethos. Crafted from polyurethane resin and color-printed plastic, this chair features a backrest shaped like an abstract face. This design choice not only adds a whimsical and expressive quality but also serves as a conversation starter. The chair is distinguished by the vibrant colors red, yellow with goldish tones on the seating. A notable feature is the use of mortise and tenon connections, which are deliberately exposed and integrated into the design. This method of assembly not only ensures the sturdiness of the chairs but also adds an element of industrial charm. Despite the flexibility of the backrests, the chairs remain robust and functional, embodying Pesce’s talent for merging playful design with practicality. This chair stands as a testament to his vision of creating artful, thought-provoking, and durable furniture.
Signed
The chair is marked with the number 598, signifying its individuality within the series. Stamped at the lower back with "ZeroDisegno" and "Gaetano Pesce," these markings authenticate the chairs as a genuine piece. All the pieces in the "Nobody's Perfect" project are unique and unrepeatable, crafted through manual processes that vary each time. It is therefore a true work of art.
Condition
The chair remain in a very good condition with only minor signs of wear. -
