Description
Two armchairs by Gastone Rinaldi for Rima.Gastone Rinaldi is a designer who is not necessarily well known to the general public but currently his name is gaining popularity among collectors around the world. His creations have never been manufactured in large numbers but have been nominated several times for a Compasso d'Oro. We believe rightfully so. These two chairs were designed by Rinaldi in the 1950s and produced by Rima. The company founded by his father and later run by his brother Giorgio. This is a chair with a very swinging dynamic due to its curved metal frame. In doing so, he has played with different thicknesses that flow into each other. For example, at the base the metal is round and a little more towards the armrests it becomes flatter and rectangular. The seat and backrest are generous in size and offer very pleasant seating comfort. The material hidden under the faux leather is bent plywood. Armrests reveal this as they are partially covered with the cognac colored leather. A decorative element in the form of rivets are placed along the edge of the backseat. Another embellishment can be found on the seating and backrest, namely diamond pattern stiching. This is an eye-catching set of chairs with a groovy look. The condition of the chairs is good with minor scratches and discoloration on the frame. On some spots the faux leather has tiny damages and some of the stitching is missing. Any reupholstering is therefore among the options and we are at your disposal to discuss this with you.
