Art Nouveau Thonet Armchairs by Josef Hoffmann, White Lacquered, AT ca. 1905

Fantastic pair of white Art Nouveau Thonet armchairs from the period around 1905 in Austria. The timeless design of this iconic Art Nouveau armchairs comes from the pen of no other than the world-famous Austrian architect and pioneer of modern design Josef Hoffmann (1870 -1956). He was also founder of the renowed "Wiener Werkstatette" and his creations were always way ahead of its time. These extraordinary armchairs were elaborately executed out of fine beechwood by the world market leader when it comes to bentwood furniture: Thonet. The chair´s frames are still in perfect original condition, so we decided to just clean the charming, used white lacquered surfaces, give them a traditional shellac sealing and preserve its unique charm. The seating surfaces as well as the backrests have been reupholstered with a beautiful patterned grey/ green high quality Art Nouveau fabric coming from the wellknown company of Backhausen. A real amazing pair of early 20th century Thonet armchairs from the Viennesse secession period which fits contemporary/ modern as well as traditional interior designs.
