Description
Rare pair of Gilbert Rohde Dressers for Herman Miller. Early rare Gilbert Rohde Dressers model 4010 made by Herman Miller. Four Drawer dressers with turned wooden knobs having solid brass centers tapering from wider placement at the top gradually narrowing the spread on each drawers placement creating a tapering placement to the bottom. Drawer faces of Paldao wood veneers showcasing grains alternating vertically and horizontally. Dressers are rectangular with crescent styled feet running solid front to back on each side. In very good restored condition. Eighty Five years old in complete original condition, with refinishing.
Inspired by the success of his showing in the 1937 Paris Fair. These pieces model 4010 pieces was debuted in 1939 -40. These designs by Rohde are his expansion from Art Deco to a more modern Aesthetic as he was also working more closely with Herman Miller. -
