Serving Trolley Model CR20 By Franco Albini & Franca Helg, Italy 1958

Description
Serving trolley model CR20 in mahogany by Franco Albini & Franca Helg for Poggi.Franco Albini was an extremely important figure in modern Italian design of the twentieth century. His creations are characterized by an aesthetic that can best be described as elegant minimalism. During his career he has collaborated for more than twenty years with the talented architect Franca Helg, both of whom also had a career teaching at the Politecnico di Milano.Interesting fact, together with the Dutch graphic designer Bob Noorda, they were responsible for the signage and decoration of the Milanese metro. This serving trolley is one of the many successful objects they have designed for Poggi. At the time, this was a super modern interpretation of the somewhat old-fashioned image that this object carries. The trolley is now completely en vogue again and we see it appearing in modern interior designs. We almost forget the functionality of this CR20 trolley due to the aesthetic power it radiates. Mahogany wood with a subdued character and pattern beautifully shows tooth connections at the corners. Two trays, so to speak, float effortlessly between the three legs, each with a particularly artistic cylinder-shaped handle. Finally, we can say that this item is a daring addition to today's interior, but shows a sense of style and class when that choice is actually made. This item has been restored in our studio while retaining its appearance. This includes small imperfections so that the character is retained."
