An exceptional Swedish Gustavian period painted pine center table from circa 1790. There are many layers of paint washing the frame, blending ethereal aquamarine over red in that tactile “scraped” finish so desirable of Gustavian antiques. The apron has a stepped shape with angular notches cut from the middle of each side, echoed by grooves carved at the tops and feet of the square, tapering legs. This modest table size makes an attractive console, center table or writing table. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to preserve the character, ready for your interior.
