Alberto Dona

Italian, 1944
Alberto Donà is an Italian glass artist born in 1944 in Venice, Italy. He is known for his stunning glass artworks, which combine traditional Venetian glassblowing techniques with modern artistic concepts.

Dona started working with glass at a young age, learning the traditional techniques from his father, who was a glassblower. In the 1970s, Dona began to experiment with new techniques and materials, which led to the development of his own unique style.

Dona's glass pieces are characterized by their bold shapes, bright colors, and intricate patterns. He often uses a technique called "incalmo," in which two or more separately blown glass pieces are fused together while they are still hot to create a single piece with multiple colors or patterns.

Dona has exhibited his work at many international art fairs and exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His pieces are now held in many public and private collections around the world.
