Description
Étienne Fermigier F170 table lamp for Disderot. Originally designed in 1970, the model F170 exemplifies the anti-conformist and futuristic design of the era, during which the materials used were more often synthetic thus producing a shiny or translucent result. Étienne Fermigier uses aluminium and plexiglass for this lamp with soft curves and ultra modern symmetry. The F170 lamp has been re-edited by Monix and Disderot has launched the re-edition, resulting in a unique creation. Comes in manufacturer's box with Certificate of Authenticity. Price is per item. Born on August 12, 1932 in Paris, Étienne Fermigier undertook his studies initially at l’école Boulle where he graduated with distinction, then subsequently at the National School Superior of Decorative Arts, from where he graduated in interior architecture in 1957. He almost immediately created his own design practice and devoted himself to the challenges of interior architecture rather than those of industrial design. In 1959, in partnership with Pierre Perrigault, he launched the “Meubles et Fonctions” gallery, in doing so discovering the different scenes of contemporary French and international furniture, particularly Italian and Nordic. His creations were also showcased by prestigious houses such as Airbone, Roset, Sentou, Arflex, Steiner and Minvielle. He created numerous luminaries, edited by Disderot, but also Monix and Verre Lumière. As both a founding member of CNAAC (National Center of Applied Contemporary Arts) and a teacher at the Camondo school, he received the René-Gabriel award in 1967. Étienne Fermigier died in an accident in 1973. Among the brightest designers of his generation, he occupies an important place in the world of French design. In-stock lead-time 7-8 weeks. Out of stock can take several weeks more. Availability can change at any time. For time sensitive orders, please inquire prior to purchasing. All sales are final. Available with or without a dimmer.
