Art Deco Porcelain Table Uplight with Greco Roman Figures by Nymphenburg
-
Description
This refined Art Deco table lamp was realized from white porcelain in an urn form. It depicts two Greco Roman figures in etched glass, creating a rich dimensionality when the piece is illuminated. A female form holding a carafe offers a small plate to a kneeling man, who extends his hand to receive it. Both figures are cloaked in flowing togas that drape elegantly over their classically proportioned forms. From the centre of urn uplight a brass rod extends upwards, supporting two Edison based bulbs behind a custom linen shade in an ecru tone. The uplight rests on a black lacquered base that displays a wonderful, all-over craqueleur that testifies to its nearly antique age. It has been newly rewired to American standards. Excellent vintage condition. The piece is signed "Nymphenburg" on the base,
