Description
This Expressionist painting of a female nude, with flowing red hair, seated in a lush garden is done with quick brush strokes and flourishes in oil colors on a Masonite panel. The work is an unsigned American original. It shows the influence of Northern European, German, or South African Expressionism with Brutalist influences. The subject is personal, intimate, emotional, mysterious, and erotic. The garden is a lovely compliment to her. The colors are vibrant and evocative. Her red hair flows around her in a re-imagined Modernist take on pre-Raphaelite sensuality. There is a small chip in the paint near the upper left corner. The frame is older than the painting and is carved with leafy patterns in walnut, and it keeps the painting protected under glass. The sight dimensions are 12"W x 10"H. The overall framed measurements are listed below.
