Description
Dimensions: 39” H x 51 ⅛” W x 23 ⅝” D
A transitional 19th century French mahogany and white marble buffet, combining Louis XVI elements with clean geometric lines to contrast the expressive wood grain patterns. The marble exhibits faint gray veining; shaped with a slight beveled edge around the perimeter–a geometric detail echoed in the marquetry inlay on the drawer and door fronts to suggest paneling. A shallow drawer across the top spans the width of the piece, using brass bail pulls and an ornate escutcheon over the working lock (one key is present to share with the doors). In the case below, the two cabinet doors exhibit fine grain patterns and lustre, framed with a tiny pinstripe of ebonized marquetry. The doors lock in tandem from the right side–with the left door hooking to the shelf for added security, both sporting the same escutcheons as above, using the key as a pull. Inside is an fixed shelf, 15 ⅝” deep for generous storage in a dining room or living room. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax–ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images to see the wonderful features and antique condition of this timeless storage piece. One key included. -
