Description
This monumental "Grand Lustre" was designed by the celebrated Belgian architect Léon Stynen for the Casino of Blankenberge, Belgium. The chandelier features a dramatic Art Deco silhouette characterized by central and peripheral vertical light columns crowned with stylized metal crowns. The structure incorporates both standard and colored lighting elements to enhance the architectural ambiance of large-scale interiors.
Léon Stynen (1899–1990) was a pivotal figure in 20th-century Belgian architecture, known for his masterful transition from Art Deco to Modernism and his significant public commissions. The Casino of Blankenberge, commissioned in the early 1930s, represents one of Stynen's most prestigious early career achievements in the Art Deco style. This piece represents a rare survival of Belgian decorative heritage on a grand scale. -
