Description
A striking and highly sculptural Mexican silver-plated centerpiece bowl handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico, featuring an exceptional pair of stylized fish-form handles richly inlaid with iridescent abalone shell. Signed "Taxco A.C.T. Plateado," this rare decorative vessel exemplifies the bold artistic craftsmanship for which Taxco metalwork is celebrated.
The gracefully scalloped bowl is hand-formed from silver-plated copper and raised on four decorative cast feet, creating an elegant presentation suitable as a dining table centerpiece, console decoration, or collector's display. The dramatic fish handles, finished with shimmering abalone mosaic and silver detailing, provide a vibrant contrast against the softly aged silver-plated surface while introducing an organic coastal aesthetic.
Equally at home in Mid-Century Modern, Modernist, Hollywood Regency, Coastal, Organic Modern, Spanish Colonial, or Contemporary interiors, this impressive centerpiece functions beautifully as a decorative fruit bowl, centerpiece vessel, cachepot, or sculptural object.
Taxco has long been internationally recognized as Mexico's premier center for artistic silver production, and this uncommon example showcases the region's inventive approach to combining precious metals with natural materials such as abalone shell.
