Pascal Jarrion

Pascal Jarrion (born 1961) is a highly acclaimed contemporary French painter, sculptor, and mixed-media artist celebrated for his bold reinterpretation of early 20th-century European Modernism. Born in Perpignan, France—a historic region deeply rooted in Catalan culture that famously inspired masters like Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, and Aristide Maillol—Jarrion received his foundational classical training at Les Beaux-Arts de Perpignan. Driven by an expansive creative vision, he initially relocated to London, where he spent several years running a highly sought-after custom tattoo studio in Camden Town under the moniker "Bugs". During this formative period, his exclusive hand-drawn skin art began synthesizing elements of Cubist deconstruction with structured Art Deco typography and classical figuration, earning him an elite international clientele.
 
In 2005, Jarrion relocated to Los Angeles, California, transitioning away from body art to establish his studio, Modern Avantgardist, where he dedicates himself entirely to fine art and three-dimensional sculpture. His distinctive visual vocabulary breaks away from single-viewpoint perspective, fragmenting figures, faces, musical instruments, and still-life scenes into dynamic geometric planes and expressive angles.
