In collaboration with Haslauer Gallery, Jeff Lincoln Art + Design, Southampton, New York, is presenting a new show this summer titled Centenarians: Three Brazilian Women Artists. The artists included in the show are Jandyra Waters, Renina Katz, and Niobe Xandó, all of whose art practices span from the 1950s through the 2000s, and who each developed distinct and sustained visual languages in dialogue with the evolving fields of Brazilian modern and postwar international abstraction. The exhibition, curated by Jeff Lincoln and Antonio Haslauer, will present a selection of historically significant works along with some late-career works by these important artists. “As women operating within a predominantly male-defined artistic landscape, they forged independent trajectories marked by discipline, invention, and intellectual clarity — contributing to and expanding the formal and conceptual frameworks surrounding the Brazilian Neo-Concrete movement and its broader context, with their work gaining renewed visibility in recent years,” Haslauer says. “At a moment of growing international attention toward artists with long, generative careers, Centenarians foregrounds the clarity, discipline, and relevance of their practices.”
