Description
Aldo Londi Bitossi Buddha Bust, Ceramic, Blue, Gold, Rosenthal Netter, Signed. Medium scale blue and gold glazed ceramic Buddha bust from Aldo Londi's Cinese series. Aldo Londi's "Cinese" series of decorative accessories (vases, lamps, candle holders, and sculptures) drew heavily from the forms and patinations of ancient Chinese bronze vessels. Bitossi distributed the Cinese decor via New York's Rosenthal Netter. The bust is mounted on a gilt glazed plinth base which is decorated with rows of impressed spiral circles. Signed twice on the interior walls of the plinth base with a Rosenthal Netter paper decal and a glazed factory code: "52/12 B ITALY".
