Description
This exquisite ten-piece enameled glass punch service was created by the celebrated Bohemian glassmaker Moser during the late 19th century, circa 1880–1890. The service exemplifies the remarkable artistry and technical sophistication associated with luxury European glassmaking of the period, combining luminous straw-colored glass with richly applied polychrome enamel decoration and elegant gilt accents.
Each piece is beautifully decorated with scrolling oak leaves and scattered flowers, executed in a refined palette of complementary colors and enhanced by applied gilt-metal acorns. The combination of botanical motifs, colorful enamelwork, and gilded details creates a particularly sophisticated decorative effect, showcasing the exceptional attention to detail characteristic of fine Moser glass.
The complete service comprises a large covered punch bowl and eight matching punch cups, for a total of ten pieces. The impressive punch bowl measures approximately 17 1/2 inches high by 8 inches in diameter, while each individual cup measures approximately 4.4 inches high by 2.3 inches in diameter. The substantial scale of the covered bowl and the delicate proportions of the matching cups make this a striking service for entertaining, while also presenting beautifully as a decorative display.
An exceptional example of late 19th-century Bohemian glassmaking, combining mouth-blown glass, colorful enamel decoration, and gilded ornament in a sophisticated and highly decorative form. -
