Description
A remarkable large decorative bowl designed and handcrafted by Emilia Castillo in Taxco, Mexico, merging fine porcelain with intricate pure silver (plata pura) details.
The bowl’s surface is scattered with delicate silver dragonflies, while two finely sculpted lizards in silver relief crawl along the rim, creating a sense of natural movement and whimsy. Castillo’s work is instantly recognizable for its organic forms and nature-inspired motifs, a continuation of the Taxco silver tradition elevated into contemporary design.
Signed “Emilia Castillo, Plata Pura, Mexico ‘P’”, this piece is both a functional serving vessel and a museum-quality sculptural object, embodying Castillo’s celebrated ability to fuse Mexican heritage craftsmanship with modern artistry.
