Information from the artist Nathan Benn:
I took this photograph on assignment for National Geographic Magazine in 1981 for a state story on Florida. The subject is a boy staring from the window of a house in the Overtown neighborhood of Miami, Florida. Overtown had many old shacks with a large African-American population and many Haitian refugees and other poor immigrants.
Prints in permanent collection of Harvard Art Museum (Cambridge MA), Chrysler Museum (Norfolk VA), HistoryMiami Museum. -
