Description
Vintage Italian Empire "Sac à Perle" Crystal Basket Chandelier 1940s. Timeless European elegance Italian Empire style basket chandelier (historically known as a sac à perle or "bag of pearls" design). Sourced directly from a historic antique market in Palermo, Sicily, this authentic fixture beautifully styled after the classic 19th-century French silhouette with wonderful old world craftsmanship. The chandelier features a beautifully patinated brass/gilt-bronze domed upper crown with three acanthus leaves and central ring from which chains of crystals cascade gracefully into a tightly woven lower basket. The crystals are equisite faucet cut octagonals in graded sizes mixed with small faucet cut crytal spheres and rectangular faucet cut prisims catching the light and illuminating beautifully. It's dramatic, elongated proportions make it an ideal statement piece for a foyer, hallway, powder room, or dining nook. With the original chain the fixture hangs with a drop of 48 inches. The fixture alone is 30 inches high wich includes the crystal sphere finial bottom. Removing the crystal sphere finial will reduce the height to 26.5 inches without any chain.
