Description
A pair of star-shaped wall sconces, made of brass and glass, represents an authentic example of Italian craftsmanship from the Sixties.
Thin brass profiles frame an opal glass diffuser, shaping a luminous star. This set of wall lamps, two in brass and two in steel (see also another listing), comes from a Roman residence furnished under the direction of Sergio Mazza. This residence, a representative home, reflects both the desire of the clients to surround themselves with refined objects and Mazza's personal taste, as a designer highly active in the field of lighting. Some of his lamps have become iconic, combining brushed steel and transparent glass, often enriched with a small but recognizable relief texture.
Similar aesthetic suggestions and references can also be found in these four star-shaped sconces, made with materials that Mazza knew well for their plastic and aesthetic potential, and therefore communicative. However, upon closer inspection, these lamps also betray the ambition to transcend the limits, including the geographical ones, of a traditional decoration system, made of repeated patterns and forms until banality.
Placed on walls or ceilings, the lamps are still capable of creating that suspended atmosphere typical of great design, objects that, while firmly rooted in a specific historical period, project the gaze beyond the horizon. Each lamp is an original work in every part and is guaranteed to be in perfect working order.
The measurements are: 45 cm in diameter x 11.5 cm in thickness. -
