Description
This rare table lamp was produced in the Netherlands in the 1920s. The lamp offers an interesting combination of Dutch Art Nouveau and Amsterdam School style, both emerging at the start of the twentieth century.
The design consists of a circular, slightly domed foot resting on three spherical black wooden feet. The surface of the birch wood base features carved foliate decoration, composed of stylized, elongated leaves and flowing organic lines. The recessed lines are ebonized, providing strong contrast against the warm honey-toned wood. This contrast emphasizes the rhythmic, swirling pattern. The empire-shaped shade is a custom design made in a cream/off-white Métaphores fabric. The finely textured textile provides a refined, neutral contrast while offering soft and even light distribution.
The lamp is in very good condition, with updated 220V wiring, a new regular E26/E27 bulb fitting and a new shade. Minor signs of wear / age related patina consistent with age and use on the wood.
