Description
Each LP 253 lamp is crafted in a square form, made from ghiaccio-style opaline Murano glass, which gives it a frosted, textured appearance. The glass subtly softens the light, creating a gentle, diffused effect. Produced by AV Mazzega and featured in their seventh catalog, this model showcases the brand’s mastery of Murano glasswork. Each lamp can be used individually, serving as a standalone piece, or arranged in a group, as shown in the photograph. When positioned together, as we did here, they form a seamless geometric composition that transforms the wall into a luminous installation.
Design
The design is anchored by subtly patinated small metal bolts that hold the glass panels in place, providing a functional yet minimalistic contrast to the soft, ethereal quality of the glass. Light escapes gently from each square, casting intricate shadows that play with the geometry of the structure. This flexibility allows for versatile placement, making them suitable for various interior designs, whether in a residential or commercial setting.
This set of Carlo Nason’s wall appliques highlights the designer's ability to balance aesthetics and functionality. The ghiaccio-style opaline glass adds a timeless, tactile quality, while the modularity allows for creativity in how these fixtures are displayed. Whether used alone or in groups, these appliques stand out as iconic examples of mid-century Italian lighting design.
Condition
Apart from slight oxidation on the fixtures which adds the vintage charm, these wall lamps are flawless. -
