Description
Timeless shapes meet warm light in this iconic Scandinavian design by Hans Agne Jakobsson. Known for his signature work with brass and layered forms, Jakobsson crafted lighting that balances form and function with ease.
Design
This particular dome-shaped pendant, produced by AB Markaryd, features a stacked, tiered brass shade that diffuses light through thin horizontal slits, casting a soft ambient glow. The layered construction isn’t purely aesthetic—it carefully controls the direction of the light, reducing glare and emphasizing warmth. From above, the golden interior reflects a mellow brightness, while the direct light below remains functional. The black cord adds contrast, giving the piece a clear visual anchor. A subtle yet intentional detail, the brass ceiling cap completes the design and ensures continuity from ceiling to lamp. On the inner rim, the label confirms its authenticity: “Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB Markaryd – Made in Sweden.”
A quietly confident design, the lamp embodies Jakobsson’s ability to soften metal and shape light. It works just as well switched on or off, offering presence without overstatement.
Condition
Condition is good, with signs of age and use on the brass surfaces. These contribute to a well-aged, authentic character consistent with vintage pieces. -
