-
Description
A beautiful version of the "Maya the Bee " (Maija Mehiläinen) floor lamp by Ilmari Tapiovaara, one of the leading interior architects and furniture designers in Finland. This series of lamps was first designed in 1955 for Asko, which was the leading furniture manufacturer in Finland. The design series also had many variations of which this is the tallest with 1 light bulb.
Due to its slotted design, this high and sizable floor lamp adds a soft indirect light to spice up any interior without an overwhelming presence. Perfect for living/dining rooms or other large spaces.
This example has a beautiful original rattan part around the stem. The shade and the brass parts are original, brass polished. The lamp is stamped by the original manufacturers Hienoteräs. The lamp has acquired an astonishing vintage patina over the years. -
