Description
This striking pair of table lamp was produced by Markslöjd in Kinna, Sweden, in the 1970s. The lamps are marked with the Markslöjd label on the brass fitting.
The design is characterized by a sculptural, organically shaped frame resting on a circular base made of white lacquered beech wood. It features a brass pivot joint that allows the shade to be adjusted.
The cone shaped lampshades have been renewed with a floral Svenskt Tenn fabric. Josef Frank’s Barranquilla print, used for the shade, depicts lianas intertwined into a lush composition of fruits, flowers, and leaves. Designed between 1943 and 1945 during Frank’s stay in New York, this pattern reflects the imaginative style that defined much of his work.
The lamps are in very good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use and renewed shades. Currently with a 220V European plug. -
