Description
The floor lamp model G2, also known as "Equilibrium", is an iconic creation by Pierre Guariche dating back to 1951 and produced by Disderot. Its ingenious design is based on a metal foot supporting a brass arm. At one end lies a spherical counterweight, while at the other end rests a diabolo lampshade, held by a circular brass fixing ring. The diabolo shape offers particular luminous efficiency, heightened by the contrast between the white lacquered base and the brass elements, as well as by the contrasts in form between the spherical elements and the straight lines of this piece's design. The lampshade has been restored based on the original model.
Pierre Guariche (1926 - 1995) was a French furniture designer. His work is characterized by clean lines, geometric shapes, and functionality, reflecting the principles of modernism. His collaborations with renowned brands such as Steiner and Meurop gave birth to iconic pieces of modern design, such as the "Tonneau" chair and the "Tulipe" chair. Guariche also left his mark on the history of lighting design with innovative creations, now perpetuated by the French manufacturer Sammode.
