Description
This 1970s Italian table lamp by Salviati & Co. features a mushroom-style silhouette constructed from thick, hand-blown Murano glass. The sculptural base is a clear glass sphere, while the large domed shade is crafted from a darker, smoked bubble glass. A polished chrome cross-arm support connects the two glass elements, allowing light to diffuse through the contrasting textures. The lamp retains its original manufacturer labels on the internal glass stem.
Salviati & Co. is one of the most prestigious glass furnaces in Murano, Italy, founded in 1859 by Dr. Antonio Salviati. During the 1960s and 70s, Salviati collaborated with prominent designers to produce avant-garde lighting characterized by experimental textures, such as "pulegoso" (bubble) glass, and bold sculptural forms. -
