Description
This stunning set of four modernist hand-blown Murano glass sconces, created in Italy in the 21st century, exemplifies the refined craftsmanship and timeless allure associated with Venetian glassmaking. The sconces feature opalene glass, renowned for its delicate translucence and milky, ethereal quality, which allows light to diffuse through the material gently, creating an elegant and ambient glow.
The opalene glass is adorned with 24-karat gold flecks, a hallmark of Murano artistry that imbues the pieces with a subtle yet luxurious shimmer. The intricate bullicante detailing—a technique that uses trapped air bubbles within the glass—adds texture, depth, and a sophisticated dimensionality to the sconces. This interplay of bubbles and sparkling gold creates a visually mesmerizing effect when illuminated, giving the pieces a sense of dynamic movement.
The sconces are mounted on antiqued brass fittings, providing a harmonious contrast to the glass shades. The brass lends a warm, vintage touch, accentuating the handcrafted nature of the design while maintaining a modernist aesthetic that blends effortlessly into contemporary or eclectic interiors.
Perfect for flanking mirrors, artwork, or entryways, these sconces are versatile yet distinct, capable of serving as decorative centerpieces or supplementary lighting elements. Whether enhancing a minimalist space or complementing a richly detailed environment, they exude sophistication and cultural heritage.
As modern creations rooted in the historic traditions of Murano glassmaking, these sconces are ideal for collectors and design enthusiasts seeking a fusion of masterful craftsmanship and contemporary elegance. Newly rewired to American Standards, these sconces accommodate one edison base bulb each achieving up to 100 watts of light. In Excellent Condition.
