Description
This rare table lamp was designed by Sven Wejsfelt and produced by Gustavsberg Studio in Sweden in the 1960s. The lamp is marked with the maker's initials "SW" on the bottom of the base, as well as the Gustavsberg Studio Hand inscription.
The design features a ceramic body finished in a slightly glossy glaze. The spherical base showcases a dynamic swirl pattern reminiscent of a turbine, with sculpted ridges that spiral elegantly around the form, creating a sense of movement and depth.
The slightly tapered lampshade has been renewed with a floral Svenskt Tenn fabric. Josef Frank’s Barranquilla print, used for the shade, depicts lianas intertwined into a lush composition of fruits, flowers, and leaves. Designed between 1943 and 1945 during Frank’s stay in New York, this pattern reflects the imaginative style that defined much of his work.
The lamp is in very good condition with minimal wear. Renewed shade. Currently with a 220V European wiring and plug, regular E26/E27 light fitting.
Specified Dimensions:
Total height including shade: 35.5 cm/ 13.98 inches
Height of the base only (excluding shade): 25 cm / 9.84 inches
Diameter of the shade: 20.5 cm/ 8.07 inches at the widest point
