Description
Very large Bohemian clear and green cut glass chandelier
Bohemian, 20th Century
Height 247cm, diameter 105cm
A wonderful showcase of Bohemian artistry, this grand chandelier captivates with its impressive scale and extraordinary level of detail. A true fusion of luxury and craftsmanship, it is a striking centrepiece ideal for refined interiors.
The chandelier is anchored by a central shaft made up of tiered, ornamental glass components. These segments feature white overlay glass, intricately hand-cut into geometric designs and highlighted with gilded accents along both the surface and edges. The cutwork reveals vibrant green layers underneath - an eye-catching motif echoed throughout the piece.
From the central structure, cascading strands of faceted glass beads and shimmering droplets create a brilliant interplay of light, scattering reflections with dazzling brilliance. Two wide glass dishes serve as anchor points for suspended garlands of beads, gracefully draped to enhance the overall opulence.
The largest tier boasts glass arms, each supporting a clear bobeche adorned with hanging drops and spear-shaped pendants. Rising above them, finely etched hurricane shades display delicate etched foliate patterns.
Completing the design, the base features equally ornate and visually arresting elements that tie together the chandelier’s harmonious composition.
Rich with decorative flourishes and expert workmanship, this chandelier is a dramatic focal point and a true testament to Bohemian glassmaking heritage. -
