Description
Made in France in the eighteenth century in the Louis XVI taste, this mirror retains both its original plate and its original painted surface, the latter in a muted grey-white tone. Carved bead detailing runs along the frame, adding fine definition while keeping to the period's restrained character. The original glass shows gentle foxing and age-related wear in keeping with its date, and the painted surface carries an accumulated patina. The form is clean and architectural, suited to placement above a console, chest, or fireplace. The neoclassical proportions allow it to sit within either traditional or plainer modern interiors. The retention of the early plate and paint adds to the authenticity of the piece. As a wall mirror it returns light and adds height to a reception room, hall, or bedroom while contributing an understated period accent.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
