Description
These individualistic chairs possess a look that is eternally relevant regardless of current trends, a charm that would likely be called ‘the mid-century modern style’. Even after decades, interior items from Italian manufacturers look like works of art. As this lounge chair exemplifies, modern design from the country leaned towards a minimalist approach with open spaces and clean, curvy lines.
The design language is entirely dedicated to the organic-modern style of the 1950s. Much like in Scandinavia, the mid-century era in Italy gave form to furniture pieces defined by quality, functionality, and reliability. The organically shaped seat gives this model a sculptural and striking appearance. This lounge chair’s sleek lines and a stylish selection of materials immediately stand out, and even make the classic combination of black and white interesting. The body is formed like a shell, with smooth and flowing lines that surround the sitter. The wide back, seat, and outward curving armrests are not separated, rather they are united and create an open and welcoming look. The splayed legs made of thin tubular metal are very characteristic of the era, adding a modern touch to the organic body. The black lacquered legs are quite simple, which is a great design choice that contrasts with the colour and soft texture of the wool blend upholstery while also letting it stand out. Thanks to its well-thought-out construction and proportions, the sitting comfort this chair provides is also outstanding.
The classic pairing of black and white makes this one-of-a-kind model an elegant and stylish addition to any space. Through the design, materials, and level of craftsmanship, it displays many of the qualities why Italian mid-century furniture design continues to intrigue and impress.
